26 young boys and girls, set on a professional carrier in theater, face an invisible selection committee. What answers could rescue them from the awful manipulations so that not to miss the great chance of their life, their only life?
This is the story of the film Which Way Now? made 20 years ago. And here they are today, at a cocktail party to celebrate this emblematic anniversary in their life. Tonight memories, personal clashes and striking sincerity alternate with bursts of euphoria and nostalgia. The characters compare their former hopes to their present aspirations, the folly and enthusiasm of youth to the everyday life in the present. How much have they succumbed to routine, depression and the unavoidable wrinkles cut in their faces in the course of these 20 years? Which way today?

Rangel Valchanov
Rangel Valchanov (1928–2013) was an iconic Bulgarian director, actor, and screenwriter. He studied film directing in the National Academy of Theatrical and Film Arts – NATFA. He became a leading figure in Bulgarian cinema, known for his innovative style, poetic storytelling, and humanism. His films combine philosophical insight, self-irony, and a distinctive visual language. His most acclaimed works include On а Small Island (1958), The Inspector and the Night (1963), The Sun and the Shadow (1962), Where Do We Go From Here? (1988). The masterpiece of his life is the confessional The Unknown Soldier's Patent Leather Shoes (1979), a film filled with wisdom and bursts of fantasy, with which the director proves that he is a master of world stature. Valchanov was a member of the European Film Academy.
Rangel Valchanov received The Sofia Award in person on March 9, 2006 during the 10th Sofia International Film Festival.
