THE TASTERS Italy-Belgium-Switzerland, 2025, 123 min, color

After Rosa leaves Berlin to escape the bombings of World War II, she is hired to become one of Hitler's food tasters – a group of young women whose sole job is to taste every meal prepared for the Führer and ensure that it is not poisoned. As the war rages on, Rosa finds herself torn in different directions, her loyalty divided between the handsome SS officer Lieutenant Ziegler and the other food tasters who have become her friends, including the witty and spontaneous Elfriede, who has a secret that could mean death for both of them. Based on the best-selling novel by Italian author Rosella Postorino, "At the Wolf's Table," and inspired by the true story of Margot Fölk, The Tasters is a meticulously told story of female solidarity during the fascist regime, recreated through captivating performances and precise attention to the details of the era.

 

Silvio Soldini

Silvio Soldini

Silvio Soldini was born in 1958 in Milan where he lives and works. Writer and director, well known for his very successful film Bread and Tulips, winner in 2000 of the David di Donatello and of the Nastri d’Argento. In 2007, Margherita Buy whom played in his Days in Clouds received the David di Donatello for the best actress. Colore nascoto delle cose (2017) was presented out of competition at the Venice Film Festival, and nominated for the David di Donatello and the Golden Globe.
